Specialized Pathology Services in Northern New Jersey

MPA provides specialized pathology services in Northern New Jersey, where our expert team of pathologists helps detect and diagnose diseases.

URO FISH: Evaluation of Prostate and Bladder Biopsy and Cytologic Specimens

The URO Probe is designed to detect aneuploidy for chromosomes 3, 7, 17 and loss of the 9p21 locus via fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) in urine specimens from patients with hematuria suspected of having bladder cancer. Results from the URO FISH are intended for use, in conjunction with and not in lieu of current standard diagnostic procedures, as an aid for initial diagnosis of bladder carcinoma in patients with hematuria and subsequent monitoring for tumor recurrence in patients previously diagnosed with bladder cancer.

Gastrointestinal Pathology

The Gastrointestinal Pathology service offers broad experience in adult and pediatric gastrointestinal and pancreatic diseases, including FNA, endoscopic biopsies, and surgical specimens.

Cytopathology

MPA provides expert diagnostic analysis on cells extracted from body fluids, cells scraped from the cervix (GYN Pap smears), brushings, and fine needle aspirations (FNAs).

Breast Pathology

MPA evaluates breast biopsies, including needle core samples and mammographically directed biopsies, for diagnosis. Testing for ER, PR, and Ki-67 proliferation index by immunohistochemistry and Her 2 neu testing by fluorescence in-situ hybridization (FISH) is performed.

Dermatopathology

We provide onsite frozen sections for MOHS surgical procedures for basal cell and squamous cell carcinomas, giving dermatologists and plastic surgeons the full advantage of an immediate evaluation of margins.

Gynecological Pathology

MPA reviews cervical and endometrial biopsies, resection specimens, and Pap smears.

Neuropathology

Expert consultation services are available from our board-certified neuropathologist.

The Hematopathology Division of MPA specializes in diagnostic consultations necessary to effectively treat blood, bone marrow, and lymphoid organ disorders. Strong commitment to the diagnosis of leukemia and lymphoma in adults and children is available through the expertise of Maria Pedemonte, M.D., Jory G. Magidson, M.D., Miles B.
